A határában lévő dombokat szépen gondozott, szinte végeláthatatlan szőlőültetvények borítják.
A nemrégiben megalakult Borút Egyesület a szervezett borturizmus szolgálatába kíván állni.
A lengyelek mellett franciákat is befogadott a település. 1978-ban Boglárt egyesítették Balatonlellével, majd a két település 1991-ben különvált, s Balatonboglár azóta önálló város. A központban álló katolikus templomot 1932-ben építették. A templom fölött magasodó Várdomb feketefenyővel beültetett természetvédelmi terület. A domb tetején áll a város jelképe, a Xantus János-gömbkilátó. A kilátóból csodálatos panoráma nyílik a tó nyugati medencéjére. A domb szélén őskori földvár sáncai húzódnak. A szomszédos Temető-dombon egymás közelében két kápolna áll. Az evangélikus (kék) kápolnát 1856-ban, a katolikust (vörös) 1892-ben építették. A két kápolnában nyaranta rangos képzőművészeti kiállításokat rendeznek, a vörös kápolna előtti szabadtéri színpadon a nyári hónapokban koncerteket, irodalmi műsorokat tartanak.
A közeli szőlőskislaki kastélyban borászati múzeumot rendeztek be, itt a dél-balatoni borkultúra fejlődését, eszközeit mutatják be.A boglári szezonnyitóra pünkösdkor kerül sor.
A szezonzáró ünnepségekre szeptember második hétvégéjén kerül sor. Népszerűek a Nyári Színház előadásai a Vörös kápolna előtti színpadon. A kisgalériák időszakos kiállításait a turisták is szívesen felkeresik. A körülötte elterülő 21 hektáros park védett arborétum. A derű városa ingyenes strandokkal és parkolókkal várja évről-évre visszatérő és új vendégeit.
